The web isn't 'new technology' anymore - it's just something we use as part of our everyday life.
The recent buzz-word "Web 2.0" reflects not only the ubiquitous nature of the internet but also some of the technology driving social interaction; from blogging to wikis, social bookmarking to folksonomies.
Just a couple of years ago the web was fairly narrowly defined as an information resource and channel to market but it's since increasingly developed into a platform for communities-of-interest interacting on a global scale - long live the long tail (i.e. the sum of hundreds of niche groups is larger than the sum of just a few mainstream groups).
As the web becomes something that just "is" we need to adapt and evolve our thinking "to get [and stay] with the programme". Wake up and smell the coffee!
